Haygood Serving The Community
School supplies were collected and delivered to Luxford Elementary School.
The teachers were honored with a breakfast provided by Pastor Tammy, Marsha, Lori and Ruth.
Blessing of the Backpacks
On Sunday September 10th the children brought their backpacks to the church to be blessed and all teachers (both Sunday School and Community school teachers, currently working or retired) were honored with a small gift of appreciation.
Rise Against Hunger
On September 17th approximately 80 adults and children gathered in the social hall to fill bags with rice and dried vegetable to send overseas. The group planned to package 20,088 bags of food.
The Food Pantry is busy helping families. In September 240+ people were provided food and other supplies.
Hurricane Irma brought request for Flood/Cleaning Buckets. The members but together 10 buckets for delivery to Sager Brown in Louisiana to be shipped out to areas in need.
Donations were also made by members to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
UMM Fish Fry
The United Methodist Men had they Annual Fish Fry. Fried flounder, cole slaw and hushpuppies were enjoyed by all who attended.
A group has been started for those children who are between the ages of 11 and 12. Information on meeting times and locations can be obtained by calling Marie at the church office at 499-1269.
